Meronk named semifinalist for Jack Nicklaus Award

NORMAN, Okla. (April 29, 2016) – Semifinalists for the 2016 Division I Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year Award presented by Barbasol were announced on Thursday, and ETSU senior Adrian Meronk (Wroclaw, Poland) was one of the 30 golfers to make the prestigious list.

Division I finalists for the award will be named May 25, while the Jack Nicklaus Award recipients will be announced June 2 with the honor presented by Jack Nicklaus at a ceremony during the final round of the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide Insurance at Muirfield Village Golf Club. In addition to receiving the Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year Award, the five recipients will compete in the Barbasol Shootout for an exemption into the PGA TOUR’s Barbasol Championship, held July 14-17, at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Grand National in Opelika, Alabama. The Barbasol Shootout will be held Saturday, June 4 at the storied Scioto Country Club in Columbus, Ohio – the same club where Jack Nicklaus learned the game of golf as a young boy.

This has not only has this been a busy week for the Buccaneer All-American, but he has also added to is already illustrious resume throughout the 2015-16 campaign. Below are Meronk’s highlights from this season.

• Ranked No. 25 in the World Amateur Rankings and No. 14 by Golfstat
• Earned a Palmer Cup selection for the second straight year
• Named Southern Conference Player of the Year for the second straight season
• Won two tournaments – Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate and SoCon Championship – moving his collegiate win total to five … The five career wins are tied for the second-most in program history
• Recorded a scoring average of 70.59, while 26 of his 39 rounds played have been of par or better
• Has registered seven top-5 finishes and 10 top-10 finishes
• Earned three of the possible nine SoCon Player of the Week honors
• Posted his lowest 54-hole and 18-hole score at the Wolfpack Spring Intercollegiate in April – Finished the tournament at 13-under-par 200 and carded a 65 in the final round
