JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL)- As law enforcement agencies in our region prepare for the Special Olympics torch run they are asking for the public’s help to make this year’s event a success.
Brittney Eberhardt with the Johnson City Police Department says they are inviting all first responders, EMS, fire, and police to come out on Friday and run along State of Franklin Rd. from the Johnson City PD building to the mini-dome on the campus of ETSU.
They are also hoping to make this year special by creating a grand entrance for everyone involved.
“For those kids that run with us and those kids that are escorted we want them to have a really big entrance so we are asking for all the people who can to stand outside the mini dome and welcome us in. This is one of those times its not just law enforcement, its not just kids, its not just families, not just first responders, its everybody in the community, and everybody who wants to stay and participate they can stay and watch the games for free there is no cost,” Eberhardt said.
That run will start at the Johnson City Police Department this coming Friday April 29th at 8am.
