ANTIGO, Wis. (AP) – Police in Wisconsin say a person toting a rifle opened fire outside a high school prom, leaving three people injured.
Antigo (AN’-tee-goh) Police Chief Eric Roller says the shooter “showed up” last night at Antigo High School and started firing at two people outside the building.
He says officers in the parking lot responded and “an officer immediately fired upon the shooter, stopping the threat.”
He says everyone within the prom was eventually escorted from the school and were safe.
It was not immediately known if the unidentified suspect was among the injured at the hospital, or if they were a student. Roller said the shooter was in custody and there was no further threat to the community.
The condition of the three people injured was not immediately known, but Roller says all three were taken to the hospital.
