Hundreds of volunteers clean up popular Kingsport park for day of service

KINGSPORT, TN (WJHL)- A popular playground in the Tri-Cities was closed Saturday morning for a day of service.

Neighbors, churches, and youth groups all gathered to help wash, clean, and even plant greenery at Warriors’ Path State Park.

Darrell’s Dream boundless playground is located inside the park, and is a place where children of all abilities can learn and play together.

Chuck Call volunteered and said its a great way to give back.

“mulch, sand, the creek bed has to be cleared out. We pressure was and clean all the toys so that they are germ free, and that’s mainly what we do, thats a lot of effort all the way back to the playground, so many hands make light work,” Call said.

Organizers of the event said they had about 200 people volunteer.
