ETSU tennis earns big conference awards

JOHNSON CITY, TN- After winning the SoCon regular season championship Saturday, the 52nd-ranked ETSU men’s tennis team was well represented Tuesday when the league office announced the SoCon’s all-conference teams. In total eight members of the team were honored by the SoCon. Headlining the honorees were David Biosca (Player of the Year), Wenceslao Albin (Freshman of the Year) and Yaser Zaatini (Coach of the Year).

Joining Biosca, Albin and Zaatini as honorees were Rogerio Ribeiro, Robert Herrera, Diego Nunez, Sebastian Yllera and Ismael Merino. Ribeiro was named to the All-SoCon First Team in singles and doubles when paired with Biosca, while the duo of Herrera and Nunez was also named to the league’s first team in doubles as well.

Five members of the ETSU women’s tennis team were honored with postseason accolades Tuesday by the league office. The Bucs, who finished the season with a 17-2 overall record and 6-1 mark in conference play, had two players garner first team honors and three others earned spots on the second team.
