JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) – Students at East Tennessee State University want to make sure no one on campus goes hungry. Wednesday, University President Dr. Brian Noland honored his promise to boost donations to a campus program by taking dozens of pies to the face.
Students paid $1 each for the chance to take part in the Bucky’s Food Pantry fundraiser. In only 30 minutes, Dr. Noland scraped more than 50 pies off his face.
The fundraiser brings awareness to students, faculty and staff who find themselves in need. We’re told, this year alone the requests for help have more than doubled.
The food pantry is in immediate need of the following items:
Sugar, Flour, Oil, Shortening, Jelly, Spaghetti Sauce, Peanut Butter, Water, Canned meats, Crackers, Coffee, Creamer, Dry Beans, Macaroni & Cheese, Canned Fruit, Jello, Jello Puddings, Peas, Canned Potatoes, Instant Potatoes, Granola Bars, Tea, Coffee, Cereal, Oatmeal, Juice, Cake mixes / icing, Chips, Toothbrushes, Toothpaste, Bar soap, Body Wash, Shave Cream, Razors. Also, regular (not freezer) Ziploc bags, quart or sandwich size.
The community is invited to “vote” by bringing food donations to campus. To find drop-off sites and for more information check out: http://www.etsu.edu/foodpantry/
