Missing Sullivan Co. woman wanted for embezzlement in Bristol, Va. located in JC

UPDATE: A missing Sullivan County woman wanted for embezzlement in Bristol, Va. was found Thursday night in Johnson City after she was involved in a car crash.

According to Bristol, Va. Police Department Sgt. Steven Crawford, Janice Cunningham was taken to the Johnson City Medical Center for treatment and is still in the hospital, following a car crash in Johnson City.

Crawford said Cunningham will be charged in Johnson City for being a fugitive from justice and will await extradition back to Bristol, Va.

According to Crawford, Cunningham is accused of embezzling at least $20,000 from Capital Bank in Bristol, Va.

On Wednesday, Cunningham was reported as missing in Sullivan County. On Thursday, Bristol, Va. police said she was charged for embezzling money from the bank.

The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office has since removed Cunningham from their missing persons listing.

BRISTOL, VA (WJHL) – Bristol, Va. Police Department officials confirmed Thursday evening the same woman who was reported missing in Sullivan County Wednesday, is also wanted in Bristol, Va. for embezzlement.

According Bristol, Va. Police Sgt. Steven Crawford, Janice Cunningham was reported missing in Sullivan County Wednesday when she did not show up for work at Capital Bank in Bristol, Va.

The missing person’s report was filed with the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office.

Crawford said Cunningham was charged Thursday for embezzling money from Capital Bank. It is unknown at this time the amount Cunningham is accused of embezzling.

Anyone with information on Cunningham’s whereabouts is asked to call Bristol, Va. Police Department at 276-645-7400.
