Greene County, TN (WJHL) – Months of hard work and generous community donations have paid off in a beautiful gathering space for a Greene County non-profit organization.
Rural Resources dedicated the Rotary Pavilion on the site of an antique barn that had to be torn down in 2012.
The Rotary Club of Greeneville and the Greeneville Morning Rotary helped fund and oversee the project.
Roy and Jeff Darnell built the structure based of a design by community member Lori Wright.
The Pavilion will be used mostly as an outdoor classroom for youth who come to Rural Resources to learn about farming.
“We do lots of programming,” says Executive Director Sally Causey, “especially with children and families, to help get them involved in growing food and learning about preparing and eating the good food we can grow and raise right here in East Tennessee.”
Causey says the shelter will also serve as a gathering place for community events in the future as well.
