Officials: Fire contained in Carter County

CARTER COUNTY, TN (WJHL)- A fire that started in Carter County yesterday afternoon has been contained. The blaze started around 1:30 yesterday afternoon, and burned across two to three acres of land, around 35 state and local firefighters worked to put out the flames.

Dry weather and high winds helped the flames spread to areas adjacent to Cherokee National Forest.

Fire fighter personnel are still on the ground today monitoring the flames ; however, Andy Gaston of the United States Department of Agriculture tells us it is unlikely the fire will spread past containment lines.
