Knoxville Police arrest man wanted for questioning in Zaevion Dobson case

KNOXVILLE (WATE) – A suspect is now in custody after being wanted for questioning in the death of Zaevion Dobson.

Kipling Deshawn Colbert, Jr. was arrested after Knoxville Police tried to stop a vehicle Monday. Investigators say three people were in the car, including Colbert.

The driver, Richard Williams, fled and caused a hit and run at the intersection of Summit Hill Drive and Central Street, according to the report.

Investigators say Williams continued driving until arriving to Dandridge Avenue. The three occupants fled on foot.

Police caught Williams and passenger Daryl Sligh.

Later, Colbert turned himself in at the Safety Building.

Williams faces charges for reckless endangerment, evading arrest, driving on a suspended licese and other driving related charges. Sligh faces charges for evading arrest and has two warrents for failure to appear.

The investigation is ongoing. More charges are possible.
