KPD: Man sought for passing forged, stolen checks at two Food City stores

KINGSPORT, TN (WJHL) – Kingsport Police Department officers are searching for a man who they said forged and passed stolen checks at two Food City grocery stores.

According to a KPD news release, the man forged and passed a stolen check written for $28.14 at Food City located on 1911 Moreland Drive in Kingsport on March 12 and on March 13, he forged and passed another stolen check for $57.71 at Food City, located at 1205 N. Eastman Road.

Police said both checks were written from the same account and the victim told officers that the checks were from an old AmSouth bank account he had closed years ago. He told police that he had thrown the remaining checks in the trash.

A photo of the suspect was captured on surveillance video.

Anyone who recognizes the man is asked to call KPD Criminal Investigations Division at 229-9429 or call Kingsport Central Dispatch at 246-9111.
