KINGSPORT, TN (WJHL) – A former Tennessee State Representative is throwing his hat in the ring in the race to fill the vacant senate seat left by retiring Lieutenant Governor Ron Ramsey.
Former State Representative Tony Shipley announced via Facebook Sunday that he planned on picking up and filing the necessary paper work to run for the State Senate.
In August 2014 after 3 terms in the House, Shipley lost his bid for re-election to State Representative Bud Hulsey of kingsport.
But Shipley said he is prepared to run a quick campaign which will be decided by voters in the August primary.
