Motorcyclist seriously injured in Kingsport crash

KINGSPORT, Tenn. (WJHL)– Kingsport police officers are trying to figure out what caused a motorcycle crash early Saturday morning.

The crash was not witnessed, so it is unknown exactly what time it occurred.

Kingsport public information officer Tom Patton said, a 2015 Suzuki GSXR-750  motorcycle, operated by Cody Bowen was negotiating a right turn from eastbound Mullins Street to southbound Ridgecrest Avenue.

For unknown reasons, Mr. Bowen apparently lost control of the motorcycle during the turn.

The motorcycle ran off the right side of the roadway, and Mr. Bowen was thrown from the bike.

He was transported to Holston Valley Medical Center, and remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

The crash is still under investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed this crash or who may have any information which would assist with the investigation is asked to call the K.P.D. Traffic Unit at 423-224-2750 or Kingsport Central Dispatch at 423-246-9111.
