BUCHANAN COUNTY, Va. (WJHL)– Officers shot and killed an armed man firing his weapon in Buchanan County, Saturday morning.
Virginia State Police tell us Shortly before 3:30 a.m., the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call concerning a suicidal subject at a residence in the 1600 block of Old Home Creek Road in the county.
A Sheriff’s Deputy and Grundy Police Officer were dispatched to the residence.
Before they could arrive, a second call came in from the same residence reporting the suicidal subject was now armed and outside the residence firing his weapon.
When the Deputy and Officer arrived at the residence, a confrontation ensued and the male subject was shot by the officer.
The male subject died at the scene.
At the request of the Town of Grundy Police Chief and Buchanan County Sheriff, the Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation’s Wytheville Field Office is investigating the incident.
The shooting remains under investigation at this time. No law enforcement were harmed during the incident.
