MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (March 24, 2016) – Kaitlyn Grills, a standout golfer at Sullivan South High School in Kingsport, Tennessee, has signed a letter of intent to attend Milligan College and play golf for the Buffaloes. Milligan Head Golf Coach Tony Wallingford made the announcement.
Grills was a Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) A-AA State Tournament Qualifier in 2015 where she finished tied for 34th. She is a three-time all-district player and earned all-region as a senior. Grills was the 2015 Three Rivers Conference Most Valuable Player and made the TRC All-Conference team as a junior as well. She was a member of the team that won the state championship in 2013 for coach Anthony Richardson and the South Rebels. Grills is active in junior tournament golf throughout the region and has accumulated an impressive eight top-three finishes on the Tennessee Golf Association’s Sneds Tour.
“We are very pleased to have Kaitlyn with us at Milligan,” Wallingford commented. “Kaitlyn has shown outstanding potential the past three years and I am confident she will develop into a nice player for us. She is a terrific young lady and student and a great fit for Milligan,” concluded Wallingford.
Grills is an outstanding student and holds Academic Achievement Awards for Excellence in several math and English levels. She is a Tennessee/Virginia Scholar, a member of the HOSA Club, the Student Council and The Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). Grills plans a major in nursing and minor in biblical studies at Milligan with a goal of entering the medical missionary field upon graduation. She is the daughter of Joseph and Lisa Grills of Kingsport, Tennessee.
