Former utility district directors ask judge to dismiss charges

GREENE COUNTY (WJHL) – The mother and daughter accused of theft and official misconduct linked to Chuckey and Cross Anchor utility districts are asking a judge to dismiss their charges, according to court records.

Attorneys for Shirley Collins and Kandie Jennings filed motions this month ahead of their March 31 court dates.

Both women used to be in charge of Chuckey and Cross Anchor utility districts.

The two and their questionable spending were the focus of multiple Community Watchdog investigations beginning in 2013.

We discovered Jennings, among other things, was linked to the purchase of a pricey laptop and a $7,000 retirement party for her mother. Collins was linked to a hefty unauthorized bonus and a questionable consulting contract.
