PIGEON FORGE, TN (WJHL)- Dolly Patron stopped by Dollywood Thursday to kick off the theme park’s 31st season and a new season of her career.
“I’ve always considered myself a working girl, you’re probably wondering what all I’m doing this year,” Parton said to a crowd gathered to see her at Dollywood Thursday.
“I have a new album that I’ve just written, of all love songs and I’ve produced that down in Nashville and were going on tour, the album is called “Pure and Simple” and so is the show,” Parton said.
From June to October she’ll be on her first North American concert tour in more than 25 years.
She announced Thursday she’ll make a stop in her home county November 15th.
“We’re excited that she will be here in Pigeon Forge and hope everyone from the Tri-Cities will be able to come on down, and the great thing about that concert is the proceeds do benefit “Imagination Library” (Parton’s charity),” Dollywood Spokesperson Wes Ramey said.
“I’ve seen her before in concert, she does really good concerts and I’m excited for other people to get to see her,” Parton fan Carolyn Williams said. “I think it’s phenomenal that she started here and that she’s still going strong.”
Parton also talked about movies she has in the works, new attractions at Dollywood like the new “Lightning Rod” wooden coaster, and if that’s not enough Parton announced, “I’m also considering running for president. I got the hair, it’s huge, and we don’t have enough boobs running right?” Parton said to a cheering crowd.
Whether she’s in the White House or on a stage in front of thousands, Parton said there’s nothing like coming home.
“I’ve been everywhere in the world and I sincerely mean it, this is one of the most beautiful places in the whole world,” Parton said.
Tickets for her concert in Pigeon Forge go on sale to the general public July 1st.
