Bucs Go Bald event raises money for childhood cancer research

JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL)- Saturday afternoon dozens of ETSU students and community members shaved their heads for a good cause.

Kelsey King-Hook, a member of ETSU’s Alpha Epsilon Delta club, said they have organized the event now for two years.

This event is part of a larger nationwide movement from an organization called the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.

People across the nation host events just like this to raise money and awareness for childhood cancer research.

A total of 19 people shaved their heads Saturday, raising a total of just over $2,000 for the cause.

King-Hook said this is an event they look forward to hosting again next year so even more people can “brave the shave.”
