Lundberg picks up petition to run for state Senate seat

SULLIVAN COUNTY,  TN (WJHL) – A local lawmaker is apparently throwing his hat in the ring for the Senate seat soon to be vacated by Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey (R-Blountville).

State Representative Jon Lundberg (R-Bristol) confirmed to News Channel 11 that he was one of two people to pick up a petition to run for the District 4 State Senate Seat.

Ramsey stunned many by announcing Wednesday that he would not run for re-election, after holding the seat for the last 20 years.

Lundberg tells News Channel 11 that he will make a formal announcement on his plans Friday.

Neal Kerney, also a Republican, also picked up a petition to run for the seat, according to the Sullivan County Election Commission website.
