KINGSPORT, TN (WJHL) – Investigators with the Kingsport Police Department say they’ve identified the remains of a missing Kingsport man that were found in a remote area of Greene County last month.
Detectives says Christopher West was reported missing on January 27.
On February 17, detectives found humans remains in the Cherokee National Forest portion of Greene County by deputies with the Greene County Sheriff’s Department. The sheriff’s department said the body was down an embankment on Greene Mountain Road, according to WATE.
Tennessee Bureau of Investigation was called to assist with the investigation.
The remains were examined and since that time they were positively identified as Christopher West.
Investigators have very few leads regarding the circumstances surrounding West’s death.
