ETSU report: Man impersonating officer on campus

JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) – East Tennessee State University’s Department of Public Safety confirmed an incident at Governors Residence Hall, where a man was reportedly impersonating an officer.

According to a news release from ETSU, public safety received a report on March 1 about man flashing a piece of paper at resident in the dorm on Feb. 18 and told the resident he had a search warrant to search the room.

The man, who looked to be in his late 20s, looked briefly around the room and left.

The incident reportedly happened sometime between noon and 1 p.m.

According to the release, the man had a goatee, a mustache and dark hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a black jacket that had some type of badge visible underneath.
