CARTER COUNTY, TN (WJHL) – Carter County dispatch said emergency crews have responded to a crash with injuries at the intersection of Elizabethton Highway and North Road.
According to dispatch, the call about the crash — which happened just before Sinking Creek Baptist Church — came in around 1:45 p.m. and said Carter County Sheriff’s Office, EMS and West Carter and Central fire departments were on-scene.
A red truck reportedly tried to turn left onto King Springs Road and turned into the path of a white Dodge Charger traveling from Johnson City toward Elizabethton on Elizabethton Highway.
Carter County deputies on-scene said the car hit the truck in the right rear corner, flipping the truck on its side. The car stopped in the middle of Elizabethton Highway and the driver of the truck, an elderly man, was treated at the scene for minor injuries but refused transport.
The driver of the Charger had to be extricated from the vehicle. Family at the scene said emergency crews were taking extra precautions to remove the woman from the vehicle due to a previous neck injury.
Carter County deputies are investigating the crash and charges are pending.
