KNOXVILLE (WATE) – Republican presidential hopeful Marco Rubio held a rally in Knoxville Monday. He spoke to a mixed crowd at Tac Air Knoxville on issues concerning foreign policy, the military and fellow presidential hopes.

Senator Lamar Alexander spoke of his approval of Rubio’s candidacy. “Tomorrow in Blount County, I am voting for Marco Rubio,” said Alexander. “I watched Marco Rubio up close in the United States Senate.”

Governor Haslam introduced Rubio. Halsam agrees with Rubio’s belief that the federal government should not take power away from states. “If the government has power, it belongs at the state level and not Washington D.C,” said Rubio.

Rubio began his speech with a light-hearted joke about being a University of Florida alum in Volunteers territory. He discussed his agreement with President Ronald Reagan’s actions. “Reagan tried to lift us up with our hopes and dreams,” said Rubio.

Rubio told the energetic crowd that he believes President Obama is the worst president since former President Jimmy Carter.
