MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Wednesday night turned out to be a night of milestones for the King University men’s basketball team as the Tornado earned a road victory over Pfeiffer University. King moved closer to clinching the top seed in the Conference Carolinas Tournament, earned their 20th win for the second straight season and C.J. Good surpassed the 1,000-piont plateau in King’s 66-62 win over the Falcons.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The contest was played within a five points spread for the majority until King went on a run down the stretch to open up a double digit lead.
-The score was tied on 11 occasions and the lead changed hands nine times, including seven in the first half.
-Midway through the first half, Josh Calhoun converted a three-point play to give the Falcons a 12-11 lead.
-Pfeiffer would hold that lead, and earn their largest advantage of the game at 24-19 with 4:23 remaining in the first half.
-King then closed the half on a run as James Scales evened the tally at 25-25 with a three-point basket.
-Scales later gave King a 29-27 lead with a jump shot and Good made it a 10-2 run with a triple.
-The Falcons scored the final bucket of the half with 36 seconds remaining, giving King a 32-29 lead at the break.
-King tried to pull away early in the second frame, but the Falcons scored five straight points to even the score at 39-39 six minutes into the half.
-The score was again even at 48-48 when Drew Standifer nailed his second triple in two minutes to give King a 51-48 lead.
-Following a Falcon bucket, Good connected from long range and Hunter LeVeau made a layup, stretching the King lead to 56-50.
-Scales added a pair of free throws before Good got a steal and fastbreak layup gave King a 60-50 lead with six minutes remaining.
-A Good free throw gave King their largest lead at 61-50 and capped the 13-2 Tornado run.
-However, the Falcons made a run down the stretch, scoring seven straight points, capped by an Andrew Guerrero triple, pulling Pfeiffer within 61-57 with one minute remaining.
-Good and Calvin Walker iced the 66-62 win at the free throw line, going 5-for-6 in the final minute.
-Good led King with 24 points, going 3-for-8 from three and 7-for-8 from the free throw line.
-Scales followed with nine points while LeVeau chipped in with eight points, four rebounds and three assists.
-Walker led King with four assists and Mack Owens grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
FOR THE FOES
-Guerrero led Pfeiffer with 19 points to go along with four rebounds.
-Calhoun followed with 15 points and seven assists while De’Vonte Jenkins grabbed 11 rebounds.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
-Good becomes the second Tornado to eclipse the 1,000-point plateau this season, joining high school teammate LeVeau.
-The win marks King’s 20th of the season, marking the second straight season the Tornado have won 20 games.
-The 20 wins also marks the seventh time in 10 seasons under head coach George Pitts King has won 20 games in a season.
-Three games remain in the regular season and the Tornado are atop the Conference Carolinas standings with a 2.5 game lead over Emmanuel College and a three game lead over Lees-McRae College.
-King travels to take on Erskine College on Saturday. Tipoff from Due West, S.C. is slated for 4:00 p.m.
-Pfeiffer travels to take on the University of Mount Olive on Saturday.
