DUFFIELD, VA (WJHL) – A Joy Global facility in Duffield, Va. was temporarily closed Monday and recently underwent an investigation after potential concerns of Legionnaires’ Disease at the business.
According to a news release from Joy Global, an employee at the facility in Duffield, Va. became ill last week and the company was notified of the possible Legionnaires’ Disease concerns.
The employee in Duffield, Va. was tested and did not test positive for the disease.
A few irregularities were found during the facility investigation, but the irregularities were deemed a low risk to employees.
A team of remediators and inspectors were brought to the facility to clean, disinfect and re-test the area to ensure a safe and healthy indoor work environment.
The facility was closed Monday for the remediation work and reopened on Tuesday.
