Two students injured in Sullivan County school bus crash

SULLIVAN COUNTY, TN (WJHL) – Two students were taken to the hospital after a Sullivan County school bus ran off the road Thursday and came to rest against a house, according to a spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office.

Public Information Officer Leslie Earhart said a school bus carrying five Sullivan East High School students and the driver’s daughter crashed just before 3 p.m. Thursday on Old Jonesboro Road.

Earhart said the driver was on Carolina Avenue and turned left onto Old Jonesboro but ran off the road and struck a car and carport before coming to rest against a house.

One of the students complained of chest pains at the scene and was taken to the hospital. Another student complained of a headache and was reportedly taken to the hospital by parents.

The sheriff’s office was continuing to investigate the crash.
