BRISTOL, VA (WJHL) – Publix is expanding to Virginia. The Florida-based grocery chain is bringing its first stores to Bristol and Richmond.
According to a press release, the 54,000 square feet southwest Virginia store will be located at the northeast corner of Lee Highway and Clear Creek Road in Washington County, VA.
“As we enter new markets and continue to open new stores, our associates prepare for new opportunities which supports our culture of promotion from within,” Publix CEO Ed Crenshaw commented on crossing yet another state line. ” We look forward to providing the great state of Virginia with the high-quality service and products that our customers have come to expect and that have earned us recognition throughout the industry.”
The Bristol store is expected to open in late 2017.
The Richmond area, Glen Allen store, is expected to open in 2018 with 49,000 square feet of space and will be located at the northeast corner of Nuckols Road & Twin Hickory Road in Henrico County.
Publix is currently operating in six states: Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South and North Carolina.
