Governor Haslam wants to boost education spending

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Gov. Bill Haslam says his proposal to boost public education spending by $261 million marks the state’s

largest ever investment in K-12 education without a tax increase. Haslam also is proposing the transfer of $130 million from the

general fund to pay for highway projects and maintenance.
