NORTHEAST TN/SOUTHWEST VA (WJHL) – The deadline to register vote in the upcoming presidential primaries in both Tennessee and Virginia is fast approaching.

The following is a breakdown of information for Tennesseans and Virginians on how to register, as well as voting dates and information:
Tennessee residents who want to vote in the March 1 presidential preference primary must register to vote by Monday, Feb. 1.
According to a news release from the state, early voting will start on Wednesday, Feb. 10 and run Mondays through Saturdays until Tuesday, Feb. 23. Some counties will be closed on Monday, Feb. 15 for Presidents Day.
Election Day will be held on Tuesday, March 1.
According to the release, some counties are also offering early voting at satellite locations.

To vote, Tennesseans should bring a valid state or federal photo ID with them to the polls. For information on what ID’s are accepted, as well as information for voters with disabilities, college students studying outside of their counties or voters in active military service, visit GoVoteTN.com or call 1-877-850-4959.
A GoVoteTN app is also available in the App Store or Google Play for voters to access polling locations, sample ballots and other voting information, according to the release.
Virginia residents who want to vote in the March 1 primary must register to vote by Monday, Feb. 8.
According to a Virginia Department of Elections news release, the deadline for an absentee ballot by mail application is Tuesday, Feb. 23 at 5 p.m. and the deadline for an absentee ballot by appearing in-person is Saturday, Feb. 27 at 5 p.m.
