KINGSPORT, TN (WJHL) – Kingsport Police Department officers are currently searching for a missing and possibly endangered man.

According to KPD news release, Christopher A. West — as known as “Smurf” — 39, of Kingsport, was reported missing by his sister on Jan. 27.

West’s sister said he had been out of contact with friends and family since Dec. 1, 2015, which was out of character for the man.

KPD’s Criminal Investigations Division revealed that West had been inactive on social media since mid-December, but was seen on the evening of Christmas Day.

Police said a female acquaintance of West said he left her Holly Hills Apartments that evening to run an errand, but said he never returned. She said she has had no contact with him since.

West is described as a white male who is around 5-foot-6 inches tall and weighs around 160 pounds.

He reportedly has short brown hair in either a buzz or crew cut, as well as brown eyes.

West also has a thin mustache, a goatee and has a large blue rose tattoo in the center of the back of his neck.

According to release, West does not have a permanent address.

Detectives believe there is a concern over West’s safety and general welfare based on information received during the investigation.

Anyone with information on West’s whereabouts is asked to call detectives at 229-9429 or call Kingsport Central Dispatch at 246-9111.
