BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) — Wednesday was a rough day for a calf that was only 3 days old.
The calf had somehow wondered onto an icy pond at a farm in Bartholomew County. The sheriff’s department responded to the farm in a rural area of the county at 11:34 a.m. Wednesday.
The calf was 25 feet from the bank of the pond and couldn’t get off the ice alone.
With a 300-foot rope, deputies were able to grab the calf and slide it to the edge of the pond. The calf survived and was taken inside to warm up after the ordeal.
