Woman wanted for Sevierville, TN jewelry store robbery arrested in Georgia

ATLANTA (AP) – The FBI says a woman suspected in multiple jewelry store robberies across the Southeast has been arrested in Georgia.

An FBI statement released Saturday afternoon said 24-year-old Abigail Lee Kemp was arrested without incident a day earlier in the Atlanta suburb of Smyrna, Georgia. The statement says another individual with Kemp on Friday was into custody, but the FBI declined to identify the person or release more details.

It wasn’t immediately known if Kemp had an attorney.

Amanda Warford Videll, a spokeswoman for the FBI’s Jacksonville, Florida, field office, said via email the arrest comes amid an investigation of jewelry store robberies last year in Sevierville, Tennessee; Bluffton, South Carolina; Panama City Beach, Florida; and Dawsonville and Woodstock in Georgia.

She said the latest robbery occurred recently in Mebane, North Carolina.
