JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) – The Tennessee Valley Authority says it has cleared another requirement of the Boone Dam project.
Thursday officials released the final environmental assessment – paving the way for the TVA board to approve plans to repair seepage at Boon Dam.
It shows the construction needed to repair the dam will have “no significant impact on the environment.”
“Any short-term environmental impacts will end once the project is complete. TVA will restore any area impacted to pre-construction condition,” according to the release.
The assessment is required by the National Environmental Policy Act.
Back in October, TVA released a draft of the assessment for public review. Those comments and the TVA’s responses are included in the final assessment.
The TVA’s Board is expected to approve repair plans in February.
