Johnson City provides disposal spot for live Christmas trees

JOHNSON CITY, TN. (WJHL) – If you are unsure what to do with that live Christmas tree now that the holidays are coming to an end you can rest easy, the Johnson City Solid Waste Division has provided an answer.

Folks can bring their trees to the parking lot at Winged Deer Park where the boat ramp is located. The city does ask that all decorations be removed from the tree prior to drop off.

“I don’t know what they are going to do with them because the lake is so low. I don’t think they are going to throw them in there”, said Ronald Prince of Johnson City.

“I didn’t want to have to take them out to the wood recycling center, so this is very convenient.”

You have until January the ninth to drop off your tree. Johnson City residents can also take their tree to the curb and it will be picked up during regular brush collection. If you have any questions you can contact the Johnson City Solid Waste Division at 423-975-2700.
