Boy Scout collects 5,000 books for children

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (AP) – Boy Scout Matthew Mills is collecting books. But they’re not for him. The Onslow County, North

Carolina, scout has gathered nearly 5,000 books for needy kids. The Eagle Scout hopeful started out with a goal to collect 500

books. He says he didn’t expect such a big response to his efforts. Matthew tells the Daily News of Jacksonville it’s “nice to see

the smiles” on the kids’ faces when they get their books.
