HAWKINS COUNTY, TN (WJHL) – An inmate in the Hawkins County jail was charged with assaulting officers as they were placing her in a restraint chair earlier this month.
According to court documents, Wendy Ruth McLain, 28, Rogersville, was charged with four counts of assault on an officer. Court documents said McLain was irate on Nov. 16 because she was placed on protective custody, so she was moved to a cell with cameras for observation.
McLain reportedly stood on the toilet in her new cell and started yelling through the air vents to the cell next to hers.
She would not stop so something called a “restraint chair” was retrieved.
McLain was accused of kicking two officers in their shins after she sat in the chair. Before she was completely restrained, McLain allegedly spit on two officers. A spit mask was placed on her and she was moved to another cell for observation.
