(WJHL) – Amazon has reset passwords for some customer accounts after they discovered some passwords may have been incorrectly stored and could possibly be exposed to a third party.
According to tech news website ZDNet.com, an Amazon spokesperson said in an email that the company discovered the potential password data breach and said they had corrected the problem to prevent exposure.
Amazon said the passwords may not have been stored or transmitted correctly on devices, which could allow for third party exposure.
In their response email, Amazon officials said they did not believe customer passwords had been improperly released to a third party, but decided to issue temporary passwords out of caution.
