JCPD: Morristown man arrested on burglary and assault charges

JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) – A Morristown man was charged Sunday on burglary and assault charges, following a report of a burglary on Peoples Street in Johnson City.

According to a JCPD news release, officers responded to an apartment on Peoples Street in reference to an aggravated burglary just after midnight and located two people inside the apartment that said a man had broken out a front window, climbed inside and assaulted one of the residents.

The man, later identified as Ronnie Martin, 24, ran from the scene before police arrived.

Morristown Police Department was notified around 4 a.m. about the arrant for Martin and he was arrested at his home and taken to the Hamblen County Jail, where JCPD officers took him into custody.

He was charged with aggravated burglary and simple assault.

Martin was taken to the Washington County Detention Center, where he was released on bond while awaiting a preliminary hearing in Sessions Court.
