ETSU French Club sponsors gathering to support Paris terrorist attack victims

Johnson City, TN (WJHL) – Students at ETSU took a unique approach to showing their solidarity with the victims of the Paris terrorist attacks.

The school’s French Club organized a gathering, “Je suis Paris: Solidarity with France”, Monday afternoon.

Students, faculty, and staff were urged to stop by the terrace outside The Cave at the D.P. Culp Center, and relax with a hot beverage.

The event is similar to gatherings taking place in France called “en terrasse”, where people are showing they aren’t going to hide in fear in their homes.

“Many of our students have connections with France and French people,” said Associate French Professor Karen Harrington, “and were very much affected by what happened on the 13th of November.”

Dozens sipped from cups with small French flags during the event, as the French Club gave out free coffee and hot chocolate.
