JCPD arrest woman on reckless endangerment, evading arrest charges

JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) – Johnson City Police Department officers arrested a woman on multiple charges after they were dispatched to a neighborhood on a report of a suspicious vehicle.

According to a JCPD news release, officers responded to the 2800 block of West Walnut Street in Johnson City, after a suspicious vehicle was reported to be parked behind a vacant house.

Officers saw a maroon colored GMS Denali and woman inside the vehicle, identified as Candi Nicole Swafford, 35, of Johnson City.

According to the release, officers tried to make contact with Swafford, but she sped away in the vehicle in a reckless manner and almost hit the officer.

Officers obtained warrants for Swafford and she was arrested and charged with felony evading, driving on a suspended license and reckless endangerment.

She was taken to the Washington County Detention Center, where she was being held on $21,000 bond.

Swafford was scheduled for arraignment in Sessions Court on Monday at 1:30 p.m.
