KNOXVILLE (WATE) – An alleged Knoxville drug dealer and his supplier have been charged with murder after Knoxville police say a woman died from a heroin overdose.
Justin Lee, 33, and Kenyon Reynolds, 41, are both charged with second degree murder and sale and delivery of heroin.
Jessica Lyday, 30, was found dead on July 3 by family members at her West Knoxville home. Detectives determined she was using heroin prior to her death and that she had bought it from Lee. Police say Reynolds was Lee’s heroin source.
Reynolds was arrested on July 6 after officers say he delivered heroin as part of an undercover operation. Though he initially refused to give officers his real name, they later learned he was a fugitive from Virginia. He also has numerous felony convictions in Michigan and Georgia. A search of his home on Morrell Road turned up half an ounce of heroin and $44,000 in cash.
After the medical examiner determined Lyday died from a heroin overdose, the case was sent to a grand jury that then indicted both Lee and Reynolds.
