TRI-CITIES, TN/VA (WJHL)– This weekend, Santa and his helpers will ride the rails through the region on the 73rd annual Santa Train excursion.
The traditional journey will make 14 stops along its 110 mile route…Santa and his elves will be busy.
Before the conductor can yell “all aboard”… Volunteers gathered together at the Food City on Eastman Road in Kingsport to help load 15-17 tons of candy and toys to hand out to children along the way.
Dozens of Santa’s helpers were moving full steam ahead at the Santa Train packing party!
The Santa Train will begin in rural eastern Kentucky and travel southeast to Santa’s final stop for Saturday’s journey– Kingsport. Santa is set to arrive around 3:00 p.m.
With old Saint Nick’s arrival– Kingsport will kick off its annual Christmas parade.
That celebration begins at 3:30 and will wrap up around 5:00 Saturday evening. The route begins on Main Street and ends at center and Wexler streets.
