CHRISTIAN COUNTY, Ky. (WKRN) – Authorities are investigating Thursday after human remains were found inside a burned car in Kentucky.
The fire department was called to a field on Rosetown Road just outside of Pembroke, Kentucky, before the discovery was made.
Fire officials called the Christian County Sheriff’s Office after they saw what they believed to be human remains.
The sheriff’s office responded and confirmed human remains were in fact found. They reported they were severely damaged by the fire, as was the car.
Identification of the victim has yet to be made.
The vehicle is described as a 4-door, mid-sized sedan and is possibly from Christian County.
Witnesses say they heard a noise coming from the area around 2: a.m. earlier Thursday morning, and the landowner discovered the vehicle at around 8:30 a.m.
Further details weren’t immediately released.
Pembroke is located about 62 miles northwest of Nashville.
