JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) – The Fizz Soda Bar is downtown Johnson City is now open for business.
Owner and Manager Catelyn Pate says the opening few days quite frantic, “we spontaneously opened this past weekend, we just decided that we wanted to go ahead and jump right out there so we had a soft opening this weekend with limited hours Fri., Sat. & Sun. and yesterday was our first full day open. It went extremely well, we had so many people come out. It was great to see all the community that had said “oh, we’ve been watching you on Instagram for so long. So it was really neat to finally get to see them experience.”
Located in the old Bee Hive Building, Fizz has a large sitting room with chairs, tables and even a couch. It also has a wooden style bar in the window so patrons can look out on Market St. and the new Northeast State facility. Pate is excited about the location, ” I’m so happy to see this side of downtown growing, there is so many great things that are coming in, so we’re really excited to have the location that we have and get to watch it grow while we’re here.”
The space that Fizz Soda Bar occupies used to be an old recording studio, so a lot of renovation had to be done. Fizz will be open Wednesday thru Sunday and has a very large menu of soda floats, Italian soda, fountain drinks and ice cream floats to choose from. The hours are currently 12 – 7 pm on Wednesday and Thursday, 12 – 9 pm on Friday and Saturday and 2 – 7 pm on Sunday but these hours could be adjusted as they see how business goes.
Pate says that the reaction so far has been great, ” Everyone has loved it so far. We’ve gotten a lot of great feedback, we’ve been so well received. It’s been a learning experience because we kind of just did it. Everyone helped us but it’s been a great experience. We’ve had a few people who came back every single day last weekend and then when we opened yesterday, we had some people come back from the weekend as well.I’m so happy to see this side of downtown growing, there is so many great things that are coming in, so we’re really excited to have the location that we have and get to watch it grow while we’re here.”
