Man arrested for 3rd DUI, vehicular assault in Greene County crash

GREENE COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) – A Kingsport man was arrested after police say he was driving drunk and crashed into two trees.

According to Tennessee Highway Patrol, Kevin Ward, 39, was driving north on Interstate 81 in Greene County Wednesday afternoon when he lost control of his car.

Investigators said Ward drove off the side of the road onto the shoulder and hit two trees. Both Ward and his passenger, Deanna Smith, 25, were hurt in the crash and taken to Johnson City Medical Center.

Police said Ward was not wearing his seat belt and was partially ejected from the car. Smith was wearing her seat.

Ward was charged with his third DUI, Driving on Revoked, and Vehicular Assault.
