JONESBOROUGH – Local veterans in our region are putting their artistic talents on display at a local museum.
This year in honor of Veterans Day, for the first time, the Jonesborough Washington County History Museum is displaying veteran’s artwork.
The artwork came from The Warrior’s Canvas a local gallery where veterans use art as a form of therapy.
Most of the art on display depicts scenes from everyday life.
“They’re not all about war, it’s about everyday things which is great because this exhibit, we’ve always tried to not just focus on the war but aspects of what it means to be in service,” said Heritage Alliance Special Project Coordinator Anne Mason.
Warrior’s Canvas artist Bob Kukiel painted two items on display.
“It reflects a lot of the feelings that veterans have in various ways about maybe the wars they’ve been in or the activities they had during their time of service,” said Kukiel.
He says other than the Warriors Canvas, this is one of very few spaces where the public can see veterans art.
The exhibit will run through the end of the year.
