KINGSPORT, TN (WJHL) – Kingsport Police Department officers are investigating a threatening note found in a restroom at a local middle school.
According to a KPD news release, the note was found Wednesday in a restroom at Ross N. Robinson Middle School, 1517 Jessee St., and was turned over to the school resource officer for investigation.
Kingsport City Schools and Kingsport Police Department personnel responded to the school and remain on campus.
Following an investigation, no evidence was found to give any credibility to the threat, but the school was briefly evacuated out of caution.
The school was checked by school officials and KPD personnel, as well as a Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit, but no evidence of the threat was found.
“While this particular threat appears to have been unsubstantial, the Kingsport Police Department and the Kingsport City Schools take any and all threats very seriously,” from the release. “KPD is continuing to work closely with school officials, and the threat itself remains under investigation.”
