KNOXVILLE — The Associated Press released its preseason All-America team Tuesday, and Tennessee’s Diamond DeShields was an honorable mention selection.

The AP chose five members for its preseason All-America squad, and the Lady Vol redshirt sophomore received the sixth most votes in the nation earning her honorable mention honors.

DeShields was also picked to the preseason All-SEC First Team by both the coaches and the media.

DeShields sat out last season due to NCAA transfer rules after playing her freshman season at the University of North Carolina. She was named National Freshman of the Year as she averaged 18.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.7 steals per game and led UNC to the Sweet 16.

DeShields and the Lady Vols will open the season Sunday at 2 p.m. as the take on Central Arkansas at Thompson-Boling Arena. The game will be streamed live on SEC Network +.
