People traveling along West Elk Avenue at Gap Greek Rd. in Elizabethton have noticed some new, flashing traffic signals over the last week.
The Tennessee Department of Transportation told us that the remaining section of State Route 362, Gap Creek Rd., will open for traffic this week. The signals are currently flashing yellow on the West Elk Ave. section and red on the Gap Creek Rd. section, which is still closed, so drivers can get used to seeing them as they travel both Gap Creek Rd. And West Elk Avenue.
The final section of the roadway alignment project from the West G. St. Intersection to the West Elk Avenue intersection will open Thursday at 9am, that is when the new traffic signal system will also go into effect, turning red, yellow and green for all the intersections.
