NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A Tennessee Highway Patrol captain has resigned from his position after an internal investigation revealed department policy violations.
Brian Lawson resigned from his position on Thursday in lieu of termination.
Lawson was placed on discretionary leave with pay on Oct. 28 when the department opened an investigation into reported policy violations.
During the investigation it was discovered he had drank alcohol, operated a state vehicle and was then untruthful to investigators.
Lawson has been a state trooper since 1996 and was named captain over the THP Nashville district in 2013.
